Hopefully you can find some answers to your questions below. If not, don’t ever hesitate to send me an email!
How far in advance should I book my session?
For family, maternity and boudoir sessions (and depending on the time of year) it is best allow for 3-5 weeks notice for booking a session. I may be able to serve you sooner, but a bit more heads up is better 🙂 At this time availability is limited to weekends and the occasional Friday.
Newborn sessions are best to be tentatively booked further in advance. Please don’t wait last minute with Newborn sessions – – these sessions are best done before the baby is 14 days old, and we need to allow some schedule flexibility! We can tentatively book a time when you are 7 months and then once your baby arrives we will do what needs to be done!
How long will my session last?
Most sessions last 60 – 90 minutes. Newborn sessions are typically 2 hours or more.
Where will it be?
The choice is up to you! Locations within the general Fraser Valley area are included in the cost of the session. This includes Abbotsford, Langley, Chilliwack, and Mission. I am willing to travel to locations outside of this area as well, and a $25 travel charge will be added to sessions out of the 30 km radius of my office.
How many people can be included in the photos?
Typical family sessions allow up to 5 people. Additional people can be included at a cost of $15 per person. For special events such as reunions, please contact me for special pricing.
Can I request specific photos to be taken (mom with sons, solos of kids, etc)?
Of course! Prior to your session I will have you fill out a questionnaire to address your visions and ideas.
What do we need to bring?
The most important thing is yourselves! If you are wanting to make a wardrobe change, please bring that along as well. I prefer to shoot authentic images of you and/or your family, so typically I don’t photograph with props. But if there is an item or two that you would like to incorporate into our time together than I won’t say no!
What should we do to prepare for the session?
My only advice to make sure that your wardrobe compliments each other. Try to avoid loud patterns, but don’t try to be too “matchy-matchy” either. Don’t let this advice sway you away from you own style though! Make sure that the images will represent who you are. You can visit my Pinterest board HERE for some wardrobe inspiration : )
If it rains, do you have a studio to shoot at?
No, I do not typically do studio work. If the weather isn’t optimal I will contact you to reschedule the shoot.
Will these images be posted online or any social networks?
Generally I like to post the sneak peaks on my Facebook page, but if you are not comfortable with doing that just let me know at the time of your contract signing. There is a space on the session contract where you can choose this option.
How do we go about securing our session?
Once you have decided when you would like to book your session, it is best to contact me as soon as possible to secure your date. The non-refundable session fee is due at the time of booking to retain your date. This can be payable by cash, cheque, credit card or PayPal. The session fee covers your time for photography, professional editing, travel and pre-session consultation. The session feed does not include digital files or products.
What time of day is best for a portrait session?
Mornings and late afternoon/evening are ideal times. Try to avoid booking mid-day for outdoor shoots as the sun is pretty harsh at this time of the day. The ultimate time of the day is within the 2 hours before sunset. The light at this time of day is amazing!
How will we know how to pose?
I try and avoid looks that are too ‘posey’. I will direct you in a way that is comfortable. Most of the time I won’t pose at all and just let the shoot take on its own direction.
How many outfit changes can we have?
Sessions include up to 2 wardrobe changes.
Do you offer professional retouching (ie. zit removal)?
Slight blemish removal and retouching is included in the editing. Extra or heavy retouching is available at an additional charge.
How long does it take to get the photos back?
Depending on the package you went with, photos will typically be available for viewing within 2 weeks. If prints are ordered, time lines will differ depending on the package.
Do you have any samples of your portrait sessions?
Samples of my work can be viewed in the galleries and blog sections of my site. Recent sessions can also be viewed on my Facebook page 🙂
What type of payments do you accept?
I currently accept cash, cheque, credit card, PayPal or eTransfer.
